Secondary Containment

As a water transfer company, it is our job to help protect the environment, and with our secondary containment services, we can do just that. In the oilfield, having strong and reliable secondary contaminants can be a make or break. By preventing spills, and storing fluids, secondary containment plays a huge role in the flow of the oil industry. Our 3-foot muscle walls make it so that we can contain any fluid on the oilfield. With muscle walls taller than our competitors, we can hold and contain more than most. On top of providing you with a dependable containment system, our expertise can give you peace of mind that oil spills are a thing of the past.

Hondo Resources’s Durable Containment Solutions Advantage

All of the walls that Hondo Resources uses have a minimum polyethylene thickness of 0.25″ and an impact strength of 190 ft-lb. Our containment walls products are crafted from low-density polyethylene, offering the perfect balance between rigidity and flexibility.

Our contaminants are built to withstand multiple impacts from equipment and/or debris. Our secondary containment systems are built to work and built to last. The polyethylene material allows for an extension of a 10-year manufacturer’s UV rating, which allows the product to be stored outdoors conditions of the rugged Permian Basin.

Modular Design for Customized Containment

Both the 2-foot and 3-foot Muscle Wall units feature a modular design with male and female connectors for easy assembly. The connection themselves are then secured with safety straps.

The containment berms are secured with a specially enginered liner clip that prevents liner tenting. On both the 2-foot walls and the 3 foot walls, the liner clip extends to the toe of the wall. When assembled correct, these clips will snap securely into place.

This system allows for highly customized configurations to suit any containment need. Whether you’re managing water in a flood scenario or containing spills on an oilfield, our walls can be configured to precisely fit your site’s requirements.

Flexible and Terrain-Adaptable

Each connection point in the containment system features a coupler joint that permits up to a 22-degree range of motion. This flexibility allows the berm or wall to effortlessly conform to its surroundings, facilitating sweeping turns that follow the natural contours of rivers or streams.

Additionally, the wall or berm corner unit is designed to facilitate turns of 90 degrees or more, enhancing the system’s ability to adapt to diverse terrain configurations effectively.

Enhanced Safety Features

Our Muscle Walls come equipped with specially designed liner clips that extend down to the toe of the wall, significantly reducing the risk of liner tenting. These clips are engineered to securely snap into place, ensuring that your containment liner remains intact and effective. Additionally, the unique corner units allow for more than 90-degree turns, accommodating any layout necessary for your containment area.

Optimized for Storage and Shipping

Thanks to their unique “L” shaped design, Muscle Walls can be nested together, maximizing shipping and storage efficiency. This design feature also allows the walls to be securely stacked, ensuring they occupy minimal space when not in use and are easy to transport to and from project sites. When not in use, each wall snaps into place when stacked on the toe of the connecting walls.

The Modular Containment Design Allows for Rapid Deployment and Reusability

Hondo’s secondary containment units are designed to be lightweight yet heavy-duty. The 2-foot model weighs just 62 lbs when empty and can be filled to 700 lbs, while the 3-foot model starts at 72 lbs and reaches up to 766 lbs when filled. This lightweight design allows for quick and easy deployment by almost anyone, and the walls can be filled rapidly with a simple trash pump, providing substantial stability and containment capability.

Deployment times for Muscle Wall systems are impressively short, showcasing the efficiency of installation:

  • 200ft x 200ft (25,000bbl) – 3.5 to 7 hours.
  • 200ft x 170ft (18,000bbl) – 5 hours.

These quick deployment times, combined with the system’s reusability and reliability, make Muscle Wall a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for various containment needs.
